College Academic Eligibility Basics

NCAA Requirements

TO COMPETE IN NCAA DIVSION I or II, STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST:
Complete 16 core courses in specific subject areas.
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.3 in core courses.
Graduate from high school

NAIA Requirements

To play in the NAIA, student-athletes must meet at least two of the following:
Graduate from high school with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Achieve an 18 on the ACT or 970 on the SAT
Graduate in the top 50% of their high school class

U Sports Requirements

TO PLAY IN U SPORTS, STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST:
Graduate from high school and meet admission requirements for their chosen university.
Maintain a minimum 60-80% average (varies by university and program)
2.0 minimum GPA to qualify (some schools may require a higher GPA)
